Calibration Check Standard (Moisture only) Calibration Check Standard (Moisture only)
Purpose: Verification of instrument stability over time.
Description: A canister containing 2 standards which simulate a low and a high moisture absorption.
Connection: Align 2 fixed pins on light shroud with holes in the canister then lock in position by tightening thumbscrew.
Use: As a stability check – Rotate standard selector knob to “LOW” position, and tighten nut. With the MCT set to the same CAL channel as used to measure the product, note down the MCT reading. Rotate the selector knob to the “HIGH” position, lock in place and note the MCT reading again. If in the future the reading is not to within +/- 0.2, the gauge may need to be checked out.

Note Cal Checks can also be used for calibration transfer, please see Installation Manual for details.

Water/Air Cooling Panel
Purpose: To lower internal air temperature when gauge is located in ambient conditions > 50°C/120°F
Description: A panel mounted on the bottom face of the sensor which may be used with air or water coolant.
Connection: air cooling - connect the Vortec cooling element to the inlet port. Connect a 6mm (0.25") inlet tube to the inlet of the cooler element. Supply 80-100psi (6-7 bars) air to the cooler.
Water cooling – Connect a 6mm (0.25") tube to the inlet and outlet connectors on the cooling panel. Supply cold water (20-27°C/65-80°F) at a flow rate of 0.3L/min.

High Temperature Enclosure

High Temperature Enclosure

High Temperature Enclosure
Purpose: To lower internal air temperature when gauge is located in a high temperature environment.
Description: A 2 part stainless steel enclosure providing easy access to the gauge. The enclosure is air cooled using a vortec cooler.
Connection: The gauge is bolted to the back panel such that it is suspended within the enclosure

Snorkel Sampler

Snorkel Sampler

Snorkel Sampler
Purpose: To provide a means of measuring powdered and granular product when there is discontinuous flow, or insufficient product density to make a measurement by normal means.
Description: A stainless steel tube terminating in a glass viewing window and sample cup.
Connection: The Sampler is bolted to the spud, which is in turn welded to the duct around the hole which is cut at the installation location. Note the sensor must be supported by a bracket, not left to hang from the Powder sampler!
Use: A time sequence is set up for the following events: Purge (sample is blown out of the sample cup) Fill (sample fills sample cup)
Sample (measurement duration)
Delay (delay between moisture readout and start of a new cycle)

Vortex Cooler

Vortex Cooler
Purpose: To provide cool pressurized air to the gauge cooling panel.
Description: A device that converts filtered, compressed clean air into 2 airstreams; hot(up to 250°F) and cold( down to -50°F)
Connection: Cold air outlet is connected to the gauge inlet connector via plastic tubing of correctly determined diameter.
Use: Install correct diameter tubing in order that back pressure does not exceed the stated limit, and ensure that the correct inlet pressure and flow rate is used in order to gain maximum efficiency.

Heat Blanket

Heat Blanket

Heat Blanket
Purpose: To provide heating to the gauge Description: A device that can heat the internal temperature of the gauge should this be necessary owing to installation in sub- zero temperatures.
Connection: connection is via an optional “alarm board” which is installed along with the blanket.
Use: The blanket controls the internal temperature to within approximately +/- 1 deg of the set point, 35°C.

Light Tube with Window air purge Diffuser Light Tube with Window air purge Diffuser
Purpose: To keep the window and light path free of oil, condensation and particulates
Description: A canister attachment with a bronze sintered interior ( or nickel coated bronze sinter interior)
Connection: Compressed air (2-3 psig<5scfm) is supplied via an air inlet connector, the canister is attached to the gauge with set screws, and surrounds the optical window.

Glass or Sapphire sight Window Glass or Sapphire sight Window
Purpose: To view product moving within an enclosed chute, fluid bed dryer, or storage bin
Description: A 2” diameter sapphire, or 4” diameter glass window enclosed within a stainless steel flange.

Sample Probe

Sample Probe
Purpose: The probe enables measurement within a pipe or vertical chute. It is inserted into the mainstream flow so that product continuously flows over the glass or sapphire viewing window.
Description: A stainless steel tube with an angled end containing a glass or sapphire viewing window.
Connection: The flange of the tube mounts directly onto the gauge.

Explosion proof OI Explosion proof OI
Purpose: To purge the OI of hazardous vapors, and thus ensure that it is explosion-proof.
Description: Various systems are available depending upon the classification rating of the area in which the gauge, scanner and operator interface are to be installed.

Product Loss Sensors
Purpose: To detect the absence of product so that measurements are not updated until product reappears under the gauge. Only necessary when product is discontinuous, or there are frequent lulls in the production stream.
Description: Two photocells attached either side of the light tube, the output from these devices is used to “gate” the sensor.
Connection: These are powered through the main board in the gauge, and provide a contact closure input to the input/output board

Base and Stand Base and Stand
Purpose: To support the gauge if it is to be used off-line, at-line or for demonstrations
Description: Includes a base plate, an upright metal tube, clamp and additional perpendicular tube with a mounting bracket for the gauge
Connection: These are powered through the main board in the gauge, and provide a contact closure input to the input/output board

Non Contact Product Temperature Sensor Non Contact Product Temperature Sensor
Purpose: To enable measurement of product temperature which may then be used to compensate the moisture reading if desired.
Description: Infrared temperature sensor probe mountable inside, or external to the gauge enclosure and a temperature Input Interface PCB. The temperature reading is displayed on the O.I and can be output as an analog and/or digital signal.
Connection: The sensor is powered from the gauge, and is factory installed.

Angle Support Bracket

Purpose: To support a reflective sample, typically glass, film, paper, etc at an angle to the gauge to eliminate specular (surface) reflections from entering the gauge.

Description: A pressed steel angled holder with circular "cut-out"  and passive reflector on the bottom surface.

Anybus Card

Anybus Card

Anybus Card
Purpose: To enable the sensor to use different communication protocols to communicate to a host PC.
Description: This board is mountable on the main board and is supplied with an electronic data sheet allowing the user to program the host computer to receive the data required.
